WOMEN IN COMEDY FESTIVAL

Please note this is an 18+ event

Jo Coffey : Not 25

Small on stature but big on blagging it,  Jo Coffey has had some ridiculous jobs in the past. She’s been a child actor, sold plastic surgery, helped the snow leopards, been a reality TV producer and is now the comedy circuit’s ‘fifth shortest comedian’.

After the success of her sell out show at last year’s festival, Jo Coffey is back with some insane stories about living with popstars, been offered the part of ‘Yoda’s Wife’ in Star Wars, pretending to be Kevin Cosner’s child and working in reality TV. All punctuated with her surreal and hilarious characters that help tell the tale of a truly colourful working life.

As well as enjoying some very funny stories of working in TV, to why she is the only person on TV that made an on screen entrance on screen by walking out of a giant bible, you’ll also be introduced, along the way, to some very silly characters that help tell her story.

Meet ‘Owl-dele’ the nation’s very first Adele-Owl singing duo, ‘CRABBA’ 3 crabs and a star fish ABBA act and course “Amy Winehund” the Croatian Amy Winehouse dog tribute act is back to chance her luck in front of a range of bewildered judges.

All this uniquely and hilariously packaged from a 4ft 2 comedy perspective, it may be a lot to take in but anyone who came to the show last year dined out on it for weeks.

“I think it was really fantastic that it was put together by a bunch of local women and they’ve managed to kind of draw performers nationally, they’ve got people from so many different places, to kind of build up Manchester as a kind of place where you can go and see a wide variety of comics and for me as a southerner to go there and they’ve got not just northern acts, its really important.” (Audience Survey 2014 participant 71 )

Actor Maxine Peake another of our festival patrons on appointment, Peake commented, “I’m proud to be supporting the UK Women in Comedy Festival as a patron. A festival filled with laughter combined with feminist principles taking place in the North … what’s not to support!”

‘Manchester’s homegrown Women In Comedy Festival (set up by Hazel O’Keefe) has found its feet in a very short space of time – only three years in attracting the likes of actress Maxine Peake as a patron, joining Isy Suttie and Jo Caulfield.‘ M.E.N
