oday sees Little Dog Star join the Toast roster, announcing her new EP Something Infinite, set for
release on July 17th via Hunger/Polydor Records. The announcement lands alongside first single ‘Radio
Show’, an infectious first taste of what’s to come.
Built around a captivating indie-pop hook, the guitar-led track finds Izzy reflecting on the thrilling and
all-encompassing nature of falling in love.
Speaking on the single, she shares: “Radio show felt like me really finding my sound. While I was writing
it I couldn’t stop smiling, I just knew it was special. It’s about moving at speed when something is
working and just following that gut feeling”
Little Dog Star is the project of Izzy Steele, a north Manchester-born, London-based artist whose music
sits at the intersection of restless honesty and careful craft. Named after one of the smallest but brightest
stars in the sky, the project began to take shape as Izzy made the move south from her hometown, a
decision that also marked her exit from a nearly decade-long acting career that began in childhood and
defined much of her teenage years.
Music has always been an undercurrent in Izzy’s life; growing up in the orbit of Manchester’s rich creative
scene, she first discovered it through her dad’s car stereos – shouting along to Fun Lovin’ Criminals on
long drives with the roof down – and her grandmother’s Elton John songbooks, which inspired her
learning of the piano. Touchstones of her upbringing included Radiohead, Rufus Wainwright, and
David Bowie, eventually melting with modern influences like Bon Iver and The Japanese House.
Her 2024 debut EP National Disgrace marked her first venture into music, and follow-up Something
Infinite feels like an arrival. Thematically it explores the aftermath of upheaval – movement, searching,
and the particular isolation of being dissatisfied with a life that looked enviable from the outside. Lyrically
it finds Izzy at her most honest and direct, feeling a newfound sense of bravery after such a huge period
of transition.
Speaking on the EP, Izzy shares:
“This project was born from a place of being curious about who I could be and what my life could look
like if I really listened. It’s about pursuit, purpose & driving miles away from a life you know.
