Based out of Brighton, England, eclectic and atmosphere-driven guitar pop outfit Kins were formed in 2010 in the band’s hometown of Melbourne, Australia. Built around the home demos of chief songwriter Thomas Savage, Kins spent their formative years honing their slightly skewed pop sensibilities regionally, eventually issuing a seven-track EP, Dancing Back and Forth Covered in Whipped Cream, in 2011.

The following year saw the band relocate to the U.K. and solidify into a quartet featuring Savage, Alex Knight, Robert Walters, and Alex Crosby. They spent 2011 and 2012 laying down tracks for their eponymous full-length debut, which was issued in 2014 to much acclaim, earning comparisons to bands like Alt-J, Wild Beasts, and Chapel Club.
