7.45 – Cowboy Dave – A film by Colin O’Toole
Cowboy Dave is a Bafta-winning short film set in the suburbs of Manchester in 1991. It’s the semi-fictional retelling of an encounter director Colin O’Toole had as a 12-year-old boy with Dave Rowbotham (Durutti Column, The Mothmen) who was known to some as Cowboy Dave. It features the music of The Mothmen, an experimental post-punk band from the early 1980’s and Graham Massey (808 State) delivers the score.
ReturnCodeZero has been honing his skills as a producer, performer and DJ for well over a decade now and his passion for music is insatiable which is clearly evidenced in his emotive, technical and detailed compositions. Live performances consist of a Eurorack modular system, a variety of hardware and Ableton Live. His DJ sets are 100% vinyl. Expect the unexpected. Influences include Autechre, Aphex Twin and many, many more.
8.45 Poetry from Esther Koch
Esther Koch has been writing and performing spoken word poetry and page poetry for 8 years. She is a slam winning stage poet and a member of the Mancunian collective Young Identity. She has showcased her work at BBC Radio 1xtra’s Words First, and is one of the 6 winning Words First Talent beneficiaries of 2019. She has produced content for BBC Bitesize and is an artist in residence at HOME theatre.
Comprising Dave Clarkson (synths, programming, rhythms) and Alan Hempsall (treated guitar, vocals, samples) Scissorgun have just completed production of their 3rd album ‘Psychological Colouring Book’ which is out end of October. Expect new material with some bits from their second release ‘All You Love is Need’.
