Sable + Crimewave // The Graduation Tour

Please note this is an 18+ event

Manchester-born, Berlin-based producer Sable makes her hometown debut at the Castle on 6th November, with special guest Crimewave. From two artists at the intersection between electronic and indie, expect a night of brooding vocals and dance-inspired breaks.

Walking the line between Northern English romanticism and Berlin club culture, Sable is a songwriter and electronic music producer with a focus on the everyday and the intimate. Dancing between memories, confessions and calls for action, she suspends her stories in synth-based soundscapes, underpinned by a love for pop music and post-dub inspired breaks. The result is a sound that pulls as much from Joy Division and Justin Vernon as it does from Kate Bush and Caroline Polachek, carving out a space in the art pop world that is uniquely her own.

Following the success of her self-produced debut EP, “Kitchen Sink” and follow-up single, “Long Hot Summer”, Sable has become an exciting name in the Berlin indie scene, leading to her supporting Glass Animals for their sold out show at Berlin’s Columbiahalle. Other recent performances include venues and events as varied as KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Outer Sound Open-Air, and Loophole. In 2020, she completed a one month mentorship with Darkstar’s James Young (Warp, Hyperdub) as part of Amplify Berlin, and in 2021 she joined Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs, the festival’s young talent program.

Returning to the UK to perform for the first time in 3 years, Sable is bringing her “Graduation Tour” to Bristol, Oxford and Manchester to celebrate the release of the first single from her sophomore EP, “English Literature.”

Find her on Spotify, Instagram or at her website.

Everything in the world of Crimewave is surreal, fractured, and distorted. Based in the backdrop of Manchester their music portrays vintage 90s sounds bridging hip-hop, industrial and dance. Often referred to as My Bloody Valentine meets Aphex Twin, CRIMEWAVE combines early 90s shoe-gaze music with contemporary electronic music.

Crimewave is shoe-gaze 2.0, a dreamlike and futuristic take on an old genre; using the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain’s wall of sound approach and cutting it up, stretching it and obscuring it in whatever way the latest technology allows.
Crimewave has supported the likes of Lynks, Folly Group, TVAM, Warmduscher, Scalping, YAANG, Walt Disco, PreistGate and HAAL amongst many others. Headlines in London & Manchester have cemented Crimewave as a key component of the new synthware sound in underground UK music.

Crimewave has released on Black Acre Records, Slow Dance Records, Permanent Creeps, Do Your Best, had a featured mix on 1020 Radio alongside gaining support from Steve Lamacq, Giles Peterson, and a selection of tastemaker playlists (Rough Trade, Dummy Magazine).
