SUDAKISTAN
With a reputation for chaotic live shows and a raucous sound – Latino rhythms combined with garage rock, brought together with psychedelic guitars and multilingual chants – we’re pleased to welcome Sudakistan to our stage on the 16th of May.
Described by Pitchfork as “Part Thee Oh Sees, part DFA1979”, the Swedish outfit have also been handpicked to open for fellow Swedes GOAT. After a few sold-out singles the band the band went into the studio to record their debut album in the fall of 2013 together with the famed Swedish producer Joakim Åhlund of Les Big Byrd, Teddybears and Caesars.
The resulting album, Sudakistan’s debut Caballo Negro, is a tour de force that was praised around the world by the likes of KEXP, Uncut, The Line of Best Fit and BrooklynVegan upon its release via PNKSLM Recordings in November 2015.
With packed out gigs in both the UK and Sweden already under their belt one of the world’s finest live acts will properly introduce themselves to the European audiences during 2016.
“Part Thee Oh Sees, part DFA1979, with a little Immigrant Song riff thrown in for good measure. Pillaging, powerful stuff.” – PITCHFORK
“Psych-inclined, this is nothing but pure force – no fucking around.” – DIY MAG
“Stand out sets at the likes of the Liverpool International Festival Of Psychedelia have placed the band on the map, with their frenzied live shows almost literally breaking on through to the other side.” – CLASH
Main support comes from high energy Blackpool five-piece, ENSO. Another new band certain to bring the party with their powerful live performance.
Hyped Leeds outfit, Chest Pains will be bringing their surf garage rock to open the show. The four piece have opened for Holy Wave earlier this year alongside festival dates with Dilly Dally and Joanna Gruesome this summer.
