Fake Wife is a project from Manchester based producer and songwriter Lewis James inspired by 80’s synth-wave and fuelled by the desire to make the perfect pop song.

Drawing on influences the likes of Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and Talking Heads whilst fusing with a contemporary alt-pop sound, Fake Wife’s debut ‘The Wedding’ was released in October of 2023. The track is co-produced by Manchester based producer Lewis Dean (Pyncher, The Strangerz, Cinder) and was recorded in Salford.

The follow-up ‘All You Wanted’ released in February of 2024, received national radio endorsement on BBC Radio 6 and is co-produced by Manchester based producer Sam Cooper of samxemma.

Fake Wife’s latest and most mainstream pop single to date ‘Round and Round’ was described in DIY magazine as “twinkling synths & propulsive, disco beats…continuing to establish their brand of incredibly infectious ‘80s-inspired pop” and also received high praise on BBC Radio 6.

Their debut EP ‘Showbiz’ is set for release on October 2nd 2024.
