Cape Cub’s music goes straight for the gut. Emotional, no-strings-attached giants are penned in spades, and first step ‘Closer’ suggests he’s going straight for the charts.
In a more esablished act’s bands, ‘Closer’ would be a monster hit without any second thought, plugged into oblivion before taking over the world. Coldplay’s gap-year-gone-wrong latest could do like a track like this. If Ed Sheeran had his mitts on it, he’d be selling millions more. Thankfully, it’s emerged from the mind of a Marske-by-the-Sea producer, also known as Chad Male. With his knowhow, instead of this being a traditional, gut-wrenching ballad, it’s a playful pop gem, schooled in the same production you’ll find from the likes of Wet and Aquilo.
The track’s just landed a new video, directed by Adam Mendum. It documents new love, a fleeting headrush that can disappear as quickly as it starts. The whole thing’s set in a gloomy, wintry English setting.
