DHP Family presents Conchur White w/ Luc Garrett

Please note this is an 18+ event

Following excellent reviews for his debut album Swirling Violets, released this week via Bella Union, Conchúr White today shares a charming animated video for new single “501s” directed by Eliot Charof. Commenting on the track White says: “501s is one of the more pop leaning tracks on the album. Lyrically it was inspired by my experiences as a teenager, predominantly across the backdrop of a now defunct cinema, arcade and bowling complex which I would frequent most weekends. There is a strong element of nostalgia embedded in track that alludes to young love, infatuation and general mischief.” Watch the video HERE.

Currently in the middle of an extensive instore tour of record shops, White has announced news of a headline UK/Ireland tour in May. Tickets go on-sale this Friday, 26th January.

Acclaim for Swirling Violets:

“His debut has a lyrical sophistication and thematic weight that lends real impact… Exploring mortality, addiction and compulsion,

White is adept with mood and dynamics and has a falsetto that recalls Angelo De Augustine.” MOJO – 4 stars ****

“A gentle gem… You may be reminded of Sufjan Stevens in his soft-sung approach, and the warm, organ-accompanied ‘501s’ is shot through with yearningly nostalgic reference points…

Creamy harmonies also enhance the redemptive melancholia  of ‘Fawn’ as if he’s bottled up some West Coast air and let is loose in the studio..” Uncut – 8/10

“Luminous folk-pop… A magic-realist beauty brimming with lyrical layers and graceful melodies.” Record Collector – 4 stars ****

“An enchanting debut album… What sets this album apart is a dreamlike quality which draws you in and won’t let you go.” The Sun – 4 stars ****

“An enchanting debut album… Conchúr White has gifted us a fully developed style and message.” Clash – 8/10

Swirling Violets speaks of much human experience through its heart-stirring tunes and elegies.” Rock’n’Reel – 4 stars ****

“Conchúr White has laid down a serious marker for Irish debut album of the year with Swirling Violets, a collection of indie earworms that sound better with each listen.” Irish Times – 4 stars ****

“A hugely impressive debut that gets better with each listen.” Hot Press – 9/10

Conchúr White has previously shared the tracks “I Did Good Today”, “Rivers” and “Righteous (Why Did I Feel Like That?)” from the album.
