Are We Strangers Now? are proud to present the launch of Kate Ashton-Butler’s debut album ‘The Last Bubble’.
With support from Rebekah Joy, Escuchando Elefantes, Seamus Cowan.
KATE ASHTON-BUTLER:
Kate Ashton-Butler is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Stockport. After a drastic move to London went sour, Kate, bored with the city, began writing music reminiscent of the small town existence she had left behind.
Since her return to Manchester in 2014 she has worked tirelessly delivering her own unique brand of folk music and has been fortunate enough to support artists like Rachel Sermanni, Herman Dune and Gideon Conn.
Her debut album ‘The Last Bubble’ (produced by Dickon Kyme-Wright) tells a dark tale of lust, love, guilt, fear, and redemption- all wrapped up in deliciously deceptive lyrics and malevolent modal melodies.
Her songs draw influence from artists like Joanna Newsom, Kate Bush and Beirut as well as fields and forests, classic literature, and HBO shows. She plays guitar, piano, mandolin and trombone, and hopes to meet you soon.

REBEKAH JOY:
21-year-old English singer/songwriter. Described as a ‘young Joan Baez’, Joy is a classically trained musician with a heart-on-sleeve acoustic folk style.

ESCUCHANDO ELEFANTES:
Escuchando Elefantes are two voices that have come to sound as one. The dynamics and strength they convey to the audience with their songs is due to their passion for busking. The streets are the place where they have been brought up as musicians. They have travelled around Europe playing their music, getting to share experiences with musicians such as Academy Award winners Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, Paddy Casey, Bono (U2), Lisa Hannigan and Sinéad O’Connor, among others.

Seamus Cowan is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Belfast. His songs are influenced by his traditional Irish background, and he likes to play ragtime, country and blues.
