Lara A King: Not Broken

Award-winning comedian Lara A King likes to see the funny side.

When she got arrested and thrown into jail everyone said “you’ll get some great material out of that…”

Let’s see if she did.

Her tale is often touching, sometimes harrowing – but is it funny?

Can Lara A King –

“champion of the conversational quality of comedy”, use her “natural charm” and her “fabulous demeanour” to deliver a “delightful performance” of “outstanding, side-splittingly funny; relatable comedy” and turn this tragedy into something “witty, charming and very funny – a real gem of a show”?    Only you can decide.

“Cally Beaton is an exciting and hilarious talent, definitely one to watch. Sometimes you just know when someone’s got it – and she’s got it.”  Tim Arthur – Presenter BBC London & former CEO Time Out

“Catherine is effortlessly funny, engaging and occasionally acerbic. I wish I’d had half her comic ability when I started.” Logan Murray – comedian/actor & author of Be A Great Stand Up

Your chance to see critically-acclaimed comedians Cally Beaton ( Finalist Max Turner Prize 2016, Gotham Comedy New Talent New York, Golden Jester Comedy & Comedy Cafe New Act of the Year 2015) & Catherine Bohart ( Laughing Horse Semi Finalist 2015, Funny Women Semi Finalist 2015, as seen and heard on the BBC) as they team up again in their acclaimed show “Cat Call”, first written and performed for the Edinburgh Festival 2016.

“Cally and Catherine are razor sharp comedy naturals, destined for great things.” Funny Women

A Women In Comedy Festival must-see – with a 20 year age gap between them, Beaton & Bohart show there’s no wrong side of 40. Both sides are filled with challenges, stereotyping and gender trouble. On top of all that, they’re ginger too. These white girls have it tough. Cally is a natural storyteller full of intelligent, cheeky and punchline-rich material. Single parenthood and a successful transatlantic career delayed her ascent into the stand-up scene, while dating failures accelerate it. Through the eyes of a 47 year old, Cally talks about everything from her son’s autism to her own dating, and relishes turning gender stereotypes on their head. From Dublin, with her cliched Irish looks, 27 year old Catherine delivers dry observations, acerbic quips and quick-witted sarcasm. The OCD, bisexual offspring of a Catholic deacon, Catherine’s comedy wasn’t so much a choice as a compulsion.
