Red Balloon Music Presents Mark Morriss (The Bluetones)

Please note this is an 18+ event

Red Balloon Music are very proud to present the return of The Bluetones frontman MARK MORRISS for an extremely intimate headline show at The Castle Hotel, almost ten years since his first headline show for us at The Manchester Museum.

Support comes from Nick Ellis and Andrew Knight.

Make sure you get your tickets early for this one, as it WILL sell out!!

MARK MORRISS:

Mark Morriss is a singer songwriter who famously made his name fronting English indie outfit The Bluetones. Mark fronted the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and 3 top ten albums, whilst touring the UK, Europe and Japan, before temporarily disbanding in 2011.

After releasing ‘Memory Muscle’ in 2008, Mark banded together The Mummys and hit the road. He spent the best part of that year touring Memory Muscle while The Bluetones took a short sabbatical, often with his bandmates in tow, either sharing touring duties or joining him in the studio for the odd overdub.

Since 2013 Mark has also been a member of Acid Jazz labelmate Matt Berry’s touring band The Maypoles.

When in 2015 The Bluetones announced that they would be returning to play a series of anniversary shows it started to look like there was never going to be time to start work on solo record #4, but December 2016 a new Pledge Music campaign was launched to raise a budget to do just that.

Titled ‘Look Up’, and with an April release in mind it looks like 2017 is going to be another busy year.

NICK ELLIS:

Nick Ellis is dedicated to the concept of “Song” and “Melody”. Some people call it folk, some just call it good old fashioned song craft.

Currently based in Liverpool, Ellis blends streetscape narrative-noir with a classic British acoustic approach. Using a blend of rhythmic attack and finger-quick lucidity, his sound has been described as “a conversation between Elvis Costello and John Martyn.”

ANDREW KNIGHT:

Andrew Knight is a singer/songwriter from Manchester.

Inspired by Chris Helme, Ben Howard, and Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Andrew has played live acoustic shows across the North West, including support slots for ex-Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley, Andy Bennett from Ocean Colour Scene, The Dunwells, and the cast of the Film and TV series ‘This is England’.
